In the US, we have a COCUMBER that is called a GHERKIN! Interestingly, it IS often used for pickling. Use of minutes and data for cellphones has NOTHING to do with the US. It has to do with how some companies BILL. Lecker is a GERMANIC word meaning delicious. For whatever reason, it seems it never made it to english. In south africa, the settlers were dutch, and that is probably where that term came from.
