amazing video, thanks Kat!

Thank you. It was super insightful. This short, to the point style of video making is very interesting to the audience.

This seems more statistical than an actual advice

Only 6% of YC companies have a solo founder BECAUSE you discrimate solo founders! If they say that are solo founder right from the beginning of application you will not even look at their video. And you do this knowing that VCs do the same discrimination. So why bother with solo founders if no one will "buy" them from you?!

I could bet that those 6% of solo founders are previous success founders or "Stanford dropouts", who are easy to sell further...

PS: very sad that you had to say that. I really admire you, Kat.
Looking at equal equity split, wow great share of insights
You don’t . Just do the business

I have been adviced to not split equity equally
This is great and super useful!

So, that is clear, if you don't have a co-founder, you won't get funded by YC. No matter the startup you are building, you have to give half of it to a co-founder. Kat is very open and I think it should be put in the application form: we fund only teams. Conclusion, build something people want, find market fit, grow steady.

So helpful, thank you so much! Dig this style!

Personally i feel they shoulda went straight for the kill. Good content thou ✌️

Good advice except on equity splits. Splitting equity early and equally is the single worst way to handle ownership. Shrugging your shoulders and just splitting equity 1/n because that seems easy and "fair" (whatever that means) will haunt you as the business scales.

Thanks for the vidéo !
SoYcombinator (under Altman) should bring back Paul Graham from retirement
ok but how do you get a visa to meet students as a college dropout?
