In world news now and environmental news, a beached whale was found on the beach in Italy with a ton of plastic waste instead its stomach. Marine biology scientists found the plastic pollution inside the sperm whale's stomach during their investigation. Ocean pollution and sea pollution are a massive problem as the plastic ocean trash threatens life across the planet. This dead whale is only one sad example. According to Greenpeace Italy, the whale carcass washed up on May 17 on a beach in Cefalu, Sicily. Greenpeace estimated the whale was 7 years old. A sperm whale average life span is 70 years.

I have just fitted an IKEA kitchen for someone and the waste produced was unbelievable! 8 screws in a small bag inside another plastic bag with other fittings all put in a cardboard box. Why not put everything loose inside the box? That`s what I did, empty the bags and tip everything into the box so I had it all there to use. There was 11 units with this kitchen and each one had the same set of assembly instructions. Same for all the draws. The only exception was the carousel and integrated fridge freezer and doors. When you order you kitchen, you should say how many cupboards and get one set of instructions. Instead of every door coming wrapped singularly they could be bundled together to save cardboard. The cardboard mountain outside in the yard was unbelievable. Trouble is that all takes time and eats into profit. We are victims of convenience and mass production. I am 62 and grew up before the supermarket revolution when you took a bag to the local shop and had 1lb of spuds weighed and tipped into the bag, same with all fruit and veg. Cheese and meat was sliced and sold in grease proof paper. Milk was delivered in reusable bottles. Pop and beer bottles had a deposit charged and you got it back when you returned it, pocket money for us as kids. What`s the answer? I don`t know. It`s easy for me, I will be dead when it all goes bad, but I have grand kids and I fear for them. Wake up people. The disaster movies you enjoy now could be happening right outside your door.

You gotta love "progressives" and their complete lack of standards and moral consistency. Murdering unborn babies? Stunning and brave! A couple of dead whales? Ermagherd! Stop the presses, we have a CRISIS on our hands!

So, when are we going to protest against China and India, who are together responsible for 90% of the plastic that ends up in the ocean?

Imagine being trapped inside a huge plastic bag. Each year, more than a million marine creatures and other birds and animals die from plastic trash.

In the week leading up to World Oceans Day 2016, National Geographic took to the National Mall in Washington, D.C., with a plastic bag large enough to bring this issue to life at a human scale. This dramatization featuring National Geographic video staff simulates the experience of marine creatures that become trapped in plastic and can't escape.

The plastic bag, created by art collective Red Dirt Studio, will be recycled through D.C.'s Office of Recycling.
