When strategy begins with "willing to sacrifice a few customers", its already on shaky ground. I confess, I had a burger once at IHOP, only because I was burnt out on breakfast food at the moment and it was nearly noon. It wasn't bad, pretty good, in fact. But I wouldn't go out of my way to IHOP for a burger. The other-than-breakfast menu is to appease that one prickly family member who wants anything but morning food. IHOP is a late night diner offering comfort food with adequate service. Want to beat the competition with the evening menu? Lower the price point rather than spend the advertising money on deceptive advertising.

As an IHOP employee after this we sold 20x more burgers then ever and still do lol so it’s in my eyes I think this was smart and lieing and joking are borderline the same so please quit being so dramatic in this video lol

there's an Ihop building that had the big blue roofs in Hamden, Connecticut. Years ago it had closed down (Ihop itself moved down the road in its updated building), and an Indian cuisine called Cummin India currently uses the building. It looked weird at first since they were still using the white and blue exterior of the building. Right now, the building is painted white with the roofing changed to brown. It still feels weird going past that building and not think about Ihop.

I will admit i had no idea they served anything besides breakfast food lol. So I had no idea they did burgers. still didnt til this video. I havent eaten at ihop in almost 10 yrs lol. Last time i went there stuff french toast was like the new big thing lol. ( not much into breakfast so I never go there )

I go past our local IHOB 6 to 7 days a week at various times of the day and the most cars I see there are 3. I have eaten there a few times and was shoved into a sticky booth back in a corner by the kitchen with blasting heat from a broken vent, so seeing only 3 cars doesn't surprise me. What does surprise me is the fact that Applebee's and IHOB are owned by the same company and that these two restaurants are 2 blocks away from each other...

Besides IHOP, Denny’s, Shoney’s, Howard Johnson’s all similar focused on Breakfast with little to offer for lunch and dinner.


I personally liked the A frame IHOP from the 70’s. Was a family trip in Freehold NJ on Saturday, always a wait if at least an hour+, very friendly professional waitresses in dresses and aprons, always on top of everything even during peak times, great team work. The new IHOPs have become bland just another restaurant in the corner of a strip mall, too big to ever be fully used. Staff sucks and turnover is around 300% per year average. Talked to a manager who had been to 72 locations in 4 years to improve service, even he said it was crazy, as soon as he leaves the service went back to the way it was, BAD! The franchise owners don’t care, all they want is max profit for very little work on their part, many are absentee and seldom visit the IHOP they own but that seems to be the norm for many restaurants and businesses in general, just greed. Pay the good staff a livable wage and give them a set schedule , then you would keep them longer and create connections with regular customers who then would recommend visiting by others, same goes for kitchen staff. But don’t hold out hope for change anytime soon?

where i'm from, burgers are like a hipster trend food. we don't have many big name burger chains, just a lot of "boutique" kind of burger places opening every year..
