Time to fill you in on all the details of the Mitsubishi Evo 8 or 9, also known at the CT9A chassis. I did so much research before buying my Evo 9 that I put together this video to share all the things you should be aware as a prospective buyer. They're amazing cars but you don't want to get burned!

I've seen some comments about the Evo 7 also being based on the CT9A chassis, which is correct, but this video is specific to only cars that were sold in the USA. I hope you guys enjoy the video!

1) rust on body or frame
2) smooth healthy gearbox
3) rusty ACD pump

Evo 7s are the best looking in my opinion. The FQ Uk cars are best because they have more under seal on.

My wife just bought an evo 8 by winning a bid! 2003 White w/sunroof, 113k miles. $3k. Needs clutch replaced though. But it's such a sexy car tho?!?!

I think the 7 looks best, they have the vents on the side of the front bumper the extra bonnet vent nicer wheels and an adjustable rear spoiler. The uk spec FQ models identifiable by carbon dash and spoiler inserts and model number plaque also had extra under seal and a power engineering stainless exhaust with just a cat and back box no middle box they sound awesome with a de-cat pipe fitted.

@EatSleepDrive ACD does not change the torque split from front to rear in Evo 8 and 9. It is always 50/50. It adjusts the amount of lock that is put on the differential while accelerating and decelerating under different traction settings. (Tarmac, Gravel, Snow)

After getting my 2003 Evo 8 gsr with a 100k on it bone stock. Now has full bolt ons, new suspension, and just a whole now look. All while running on the flex fuel kit.

Selling my 2005 SSL right now. San Diego, CA car one owner. I saw the car come off the trailer at Baker Mitsubishi in Carlsbad, CA. 134k miles with stock longblock. Mods include: ID 100cc/min injectors, Walbro 255L/hr fuel pump, Forced Performance white Evo9 turbo, 3' turbo back with BR High flow cat and Espelir JGT500 exhaust, Ohlins R&T coilovers, EvoX MR BBS wheels with Michelin PSS tires, MOMO Prototipo steering wheel (original included). Paint is original in excellent condition.

In 2017 a brand new Evo 9 MR with 9 miles on it auctioned for $138k. Right now the same dealership has another one for sale with 21 miles on it for $76k

I’m sure somebody said it already but with the evo going out of production and doing away with the 4g63 when they went to the 10 these cars will 100% be like supras and NSXs in the future they are already hard to come by under 15k without rust but I’m seeing shells for sale for 13k. I give the 8 & especially the 9, ten years before they start going for 50k. Let it be a low mileage 20k and below and stock and they will fetch for 70k in 10 year I have no doubt in my mind

Trying to convince my friend not to buy a Golf Mk7 GTI but a Evo8. He thinks I'm full of shit because I own a Skyline R33 GTR and prefer JDM. So far every attempt to convince him has been a fail. You guys got any suggestions? From my perspective Evo8 is by far more a drivers car. But then again it will be his daily. Country is Germany btw.

Best and funniest memory was breaking my TC twice in a month, and breaking an after market clutch in half cause it didn't hold to it's power
