Its weird watching james woods show up in these clips knowing hes a complete goddamn psychopath. Like, why is he there? He despises about 90 percent of the people there anyway

Billy Crystal is the best presenter ever. He's mixed with them, worked with them, even his idols but is appreciative without being overwhelmed or sycophantic. The Oscars aren't the same without Billy.

This is the first I have seen of this AFI clip of De Niro receiving the honor (Crystal was great, as always). Sadly I watched it well after De Niro has gone of the deep end, and engaged in despicable political behavior toward the president of his own country.
I would say the exact same thing if he went after president Obama in the same manner. He has cheapened himself and forever tarnished his legacy.
Sure he is a great actor, one of my personal favorites. Still the images of him making vile and despicable commentary against the president will forever be remembered , in addition to his acting.
He would have been much better off keeping his opinions to himself (like most other great actors have done), and relegated himself to supporting and voting for whomever they want to win. When you look at other greats receiving the award, you do not think politics regardless of whether they are liberal or conservative. But De Niro crossed several lines on several occasions, to where you cannot even make an legitimate excuse for him, such as having had one bad moment.
Thus I am left with the ability to admire his skill as an actor, but pity him as a person, for lacking the class and dignity I had always assumed he had.

People don't understand that when you're a super actor like Robert DeNiro, he can't act like Superman all the time. When he's not acting, he has to be Clark Kent.
