I think the best program to use other than Photoshop is Paint.net, It's simple and easy. Before I got my phone I used to be on my laptop trying to find a way to edit (I didn't know how to edit back then xD) Paint.net is basically Photoshop but for free xD

Affinity photo is the best. It blows PS out of the water. One of the main reasons is the real time change of the photo while editing.

In conclusion which software is best for photo editing and is completely safe to use? I am new to this and I really need a software with good features which is safe to use. I have heard a lot about gimp but I am not sure about it as it has mixed reviews. Please help.

Thanks for this! I only use photo editors for personal use. The fact that adobe force you not only to pay, but pay continually is just ridiculous to me, aside from not feasible.

These alternatives all sound great. Will definitely check them out.

Love Photoscape X Pro. Does not have all the things Photoshop has. But it is a good starting point.GIMP is awful.

Is Affinity able to do mock-up?

i hate photoshop/ Adobe wants us all on a subscription after i already bought an expensive
$500 creative suite program from them and It is unusable!!! damn them!. Apple should be put in its place!!!!

Gimp used to be me #1 image editor, but then I switched to Krita. I find that Krita and Gimp on par with each other these days.
I haven't used Adobe products since 2008. I've never looked back. Long live Open Source projects!

I've been using Photoshop since 2005 and I never once hesitate to tell people to use GIMP. I've never used the other alternatives like paint.net and Affinity. I still use Photoshop CS5 for my day-to-day stuff and I STILL use it daily. I understand why Adobe would go the subscription-based alternative, and having the latest-and-greatest version of Photoshop would definitely be useful but as a professional, most of the "new" features are almost pointless and/or can be achieved through alternatives like GIMP. But it depends on your usage, definitely. Mine is primarily through photo editing and styling which really only requires the more bare-bones features that PS CS5 has to offer.

If I'm not using CS5 I'm using GIMP. GIMP is easier to teach to people, not because of its interface, but because it's accessible to anyone and everyone by being free. GIMP is the 2D version of Blender. Blender is becoming the industry standard for 3D modeling and rendering because it has better features than even the most expensive modeling and rendering tools, and as far as I'm concerned GIMP is becoming that too.

Thanks for this helpful video. I've been looking for an affordable photoshop alternative and you've given me all the options I'll likely need to look at.

I've subscribed and look forward to viewing your other and future videos.

Can I make vector files with these ?

Being a Gimp user since the dawn of time (2001) it's interesting to see the alternatives

Photoshop DESTROYS ALL THESE PROGRAMS! A need for simple programs for amateurs is understandable. But these totally fall short of Photoshop in ALL ways quality.

Have you evaluated ON1 Photo Raw? It is not free but it has just a one time fee.
