Well it depends where you live. if you live in the bay or LA, or SD ofcourse prices are crazy. I Just bought a house out in Clovis, CA for 300. Not bad. Great school system for the kids. Cost of living is alright coming from Texas its not bad at all.

Went to California last year. What an expensive sh*thole! Can't tell you how many needles I walked by that were just outside of my Airbnb. Walking over homeless people and their waste. And the traffic gave me a headache.

I'll stick to living in the midwest where opportunity is rich for young people like me, and I can afford to buy a home at age 25! I welcome anyone who wants to escape the overrated west coast!

Keep on paying for criminal illegal aliens.

For those who think San Diego is expensive, you've obviously never been to the UK, where prices are higher, we pay nearly 3 time the price for Gas as you do ... and always have done, the use of food banks throughout the country are at an all time high, and everybody is on some kind of benefits regardless of income, becasue its so pricey. And thing are getting even more expensive thanks to the tw@ts who voted for Brexit. So suck it up SD!!!

All they build in the state are luxury homes that only the rich can afford. I bought a new starter home in California in 1996 in the bay area for 132,000. The house was very basic and 1,000 sq. feet . These are the types of developments they need to build.

Should make something for Brooklyn

Suburbs and the people that are apart of the Home Owners Association are literally the devil. Building more high density apartments and change the zoning laws and the price will go down.
John McCord
Because 3 million unlawful aliens are driving up rents and home prices......no matter what Gavin tells you.

Oh good lord! Prop 13 does not limit supply. There are other states where property taxes are low (1% to 1.5% of assessed value) and housing supply is not nearly as limited as California. The onerous costs associated with development fees are what truly limit supply in Cali. It is not profitable to build in the Golden State. I ought to know, I live there!
James Johnson
Graphic shows "Average" and the narrator says Median. Median is NOT Mean. Mean = Average. Median = Halfway Point. Two different numbers. Man, I hate it when they get the words mixed up.

Also keep in mind some major cities in Southern California are regarded as retirement cities. Because of this those in retirement age are more likely to vote for those who will keep property rates high in order to drive out the homeless and other people they wouldn’t wish to be living in their area.
Richard Umfreville
California is not a nice place to live . High costs , horrible traffic , high crime rate , greedy/desperate people

1. Chinese buyers expand their reach in the US housing market as the middle class gets in on the act:
2. Foreign purchases of American homes plunge 36% as Chinese buyers flee the market:

How can both be true in such a short period of time.

Greedy corrupt white males destroyed California. Thats why everybody is flocking to Texas. They haven't destroyed that state yet
Wilfred Peake
so the only way to get cheaper housing is by pissing off the current home owners, so instead of increasing interest rates, property taxes, allowing the construction of apartments, and limiting the amount of foreign investors, they do nothing. Dam that must be a terrifying nightmare for any politician to tackle
Jayne Cates
Middle class Americans and average poor can't afford apartments let alone a home in the bug cities because they aren't even with that no matter if they are luxury or not. If Beverly hills is charging so much the rest of the city feels they should charge the same. 3 to 6 thousand a month for apartment rent is not only unaffordable, but ridiculous and highway robbery. In a country where you quibble about 15 an hour, which should of been there 20 years ago.

Plus banks have inflated our dollars by continually printing money. It us obvious that the elite want a two tiered state of rich and poor, and the rich are just merely upper middle class holding on by a thread.
