How to Replace a Transmission (Full DIY Guide) The Coolest Transmission You've Never 3 weeks ago   28:24

Transmission removal, replacement, and installation. Learn how to remove a transmission so you can replace your clutch or flywheel, or so you can rebuild your transmission and install a new one in your car or truck.

In this video I show you the 10 simple steps on how to replace a transmission. I am doing this on a rear wheel drive 98 Mustang but the process is very similar on other rear wheel drive, front wheel drive, and even automatic cars and trucks. Each detailed step will allow you to learn how to remove a transmission yourself so you can replace a clutch, flywheel, rear main seal, throw out bearing, pilot bearing, or just swap transmissions.

1.) Quality videos like this take a lot of time to produce. This and the next took me over 300hrs.
2.) Follow me on Instagram "ChrisFixit" for daily updates and tips and tricks.
3.) The exhaust on the car is the performance exhaust, just used on the track.
4.) The speedometer is fine... it spun all the way around at the last drift event and I havent had a chance to take the gauge cluster out and push it back to the other side of the peg.
5.) The other red Mustang is from this video:

Jeez I swear every video you make it seem like it’s just a quick fix and takes 30 minutes, but in reality it’s almost rocket science.

Will this work on an automatic Dodge Ram 1500, Chris? I found one for $500 but it only drives forward! I’m thinking it’s the transmission.. so hopefully this is similar haha so I can replace the transmission if that’s the problem of the truck.

Hey ChrisFix I just wanted to say thank you, sincerely. My 00' Mustang sat for almost 2 months in my friends driveway (My first car and I really have affection for it haha) after we saw your video on how to replace a transmission we decided we would give it a try. None of us (three people counting) has ever done such thing, the most we have done is change a motor oil, but thanks to this video and the sequel of "How to replace a clutch" we were able to fix my car this sunday January 20th, after 10 hours of hardwork, blood and sweat we replaced the clutch, pilot bearing, throw out bearing and fork. So for any of you wanting to attempt to fix anything on your car, ChrisFix's videos are the way to go they are so detailed that is impossible not to do what it says. Thanks for all the effort you put on your videos ChrisFix it was really helpfull!

Ps: We would've finished in less than ten hours if it wasn't that cold that day 22° haha.

When I was 16, I thought I had designed something that would be revolutionary, turns out (heh) I was not only wrong about that, but also wasn't the first guy to have that idea. I wish I still had my original build to show you guys, but since I didn't I went and designed another one, but better!
