A living, breathing green monster has completely taken over the mighty river within the Selva De Fuego, river jungle paludarium ant kingdom of the Fire Nation, our massive fire ant colony. It has taken lives of creatures living in the river and has even begun to kill the aquatic plants. What is this river monster? Today you will find out. Watch how I weaken and eventually kill it with the perfect team of green monster assassins.

Some of my favorite YouTube creators make complaint videos about being demonotized for the most ridiculous reasons. Curious, AntsCanada do you get demonotized for anything weird?

It's easy to quickly kill cyanobacteria / or green algae. Use Hydrogen peroxide. It won't kill the aquatic animals. Just Google how much you need per gallon, then from then on use red cherry shrimps or other dwarf shrimps. I still think you have too many plants in the water. You should put guppies back to produce carbon. Balance carbon-oxygen exchange too to prevent regrowth of algae. I keep an aquarium and for more than a year, I don't need water changes I just add on water for lost water. My aquarium is that well-balanced. Your problem is the fire ants. They are the ones that will cause the imbalance. You can only put limited aquatic cleaners in that space but the ants keep growing and dying in numbers. Are you willing to vacuum out your ants or move them somewhere when they are too many?

I used to have bed bugs in my house and would sometimes drop them in my goldfish tank, they ate them and it helped them grow. I think goldfish would eat ants too.

For the fish you could try Paracheirodon innesi, also known as neon tetra. They are native to the Amazon river and prey on tiny insects, but will also accepts flakes as they are omnivores - a commonly used food for them are freeze dried bloodworms and mosquito larvae, so dead ants are the exact right size for them. They are also really pretty (they shine blue and "glow" red) and can do well in all kinds of environments, so even if your water quality is a little off, they won't die instantly. However, they are quite timid so they shouldn't be paired with rather aggressive fish as bullying would occur. They live in rather large schools but due to their size handle rather small aquaria quite well.
Other species of tetra might work, too, however, I don't know as much about other species of tetra as about neon tetra.
Paracheirodon axelrodi could work as an alternative as they employ the same niche, however, they aren't native to the Amazon river but to other South American rivers.

Another species that could work quite well is Corynopoma riisei, however, they are a little bigger and native to the stream feeding into the Columbian River of Rio Meta so I don't know if they will work well in your concept. However, they have a very interesting mating system which would be fun to watch.

Hemigrammus rodwayi, the gold tetra, could also work very well. They are native to the streams feeding into the Amazon river and their diet mainly consists of small insects and their larvae, mosquito larvae, very small crustaceans and water fleas, so ants would fit right in. However, they need a quite specific pH of 6-6.5 to thrive.

Hyphessobrycon flammeus could also work because of their diet and their habitat - slow running streams like the ones in the proximity of larger, South American rivers. They are also VERY forgiving about the quality of the water AND work very well with other species. They are also very calm so you could combine them with species like the neon tetra. They also look quite cool and really fit the aesthetic of the fire nation. And they do quite well even in smaller aquaria such as yours.

Hyphessobrycon bentosi would also be a good choice - their favorite food are fruit flies and the larvae of black mosquitos, so they would probably eat ants, too. They don't need very specific conditions and in nature they live in streams feeding into the Amazon River. They are also quite active fish but not aggressive, in fact, they really LOVE living together with other species. However, the coolest detail is their scythe like fin, so they can be reapers for the fire ants, and with their job being eating the corpses the ants throw into the river this metaphor/allegory fits them VERY well.

Naw, the new shrimps aren't from the Amazon River :(

Those are no algae. Those are cyanobacteria.

Possible to help with the ants and waste, maybe a few dojo loaches to clean the bottom of the river since they’re omnivores. They would like the plants and burrow down to take the food from under the substrate.

Put a crayfish to eat the dead bodies .
The cherry shrimps can carry on eating up the algaes .
You can also put in more algae eating snails , they eat all stuffs

Will ants crossing a great suspended ant bridge fall to their death, due to separation from their colony, or will they prove proficient at traveling across a newly introduced wooden bridge? This week, our open-concept floating island ant farm, known as Avista, kingdom to the Bobbleheads (big-headed ants) receive a new extension to their solo resident island. The super colony, which contains four egg-laying queens is explosive in population and is showing signs of needing an expansion to their home.

So in today's ant episode, we create a new open-concept floating island add-on, housing a tall tree, liverworts and mosses, for the ant colony to claim as new Bobblehead territory. But watch what happens when they discover the new lands, and heart-stopping scenes as they take on a mind-boggling challenge crossing the new great bridge!
