During ESPN's Decade Of Excellence they take a look back at the finish of the Winston 500 in 1986, a great battle between Bobby Allison and Dale Earnhardt

Dale never ran as fast as Bobby there in qualifying either. Bill Elliott has the two fastest speeds and Bobby is third overall fastest. But over 3 mph slower. Bobby was also around 50 years old at this time.

That was a Le sabre that Bobby was driving not a regal

Bobby Allison is a cool man. He actually came to my grandparents home and I got to meet him in person and get his autograph. He's a really nice man and a great driver!

Yea your right they do need to get to the scene because a driver could be hurt. But they need to do something else about the lucky dog or free pass like limit how many you can get.like when Jeff Gordon one time had trouble at Martinsville he got 5 of them thats just ridiculous thats not racing just giveing people laps back they need to figure out some thing else.Im just glad these clips for newer fans to see how it was back in the day. There is was a magic then that is gone today

I can agree with everything except racing back to the yellow. That's a safety issue so track medical teams can get to the accident scene quickly.

AND LAST OF ALL THE PROBLEMS WITH NASCAR GET RID OF SOME OF THE 1.5 MILE AREO SCIENCE TRACKS GO BACK TO THE ROCK HAVE CARS THAT DONT ALL LOOK THE SAME LET THESE GUYS SHOW SOME ATTITUDE RACE BACK TO THE CAUTION FLAG GET RID OF THE LUCKY DOG AND THE CHASE FORMAT AND JUST GO BACK TO A SHORTER SCHEDULE THIS WOULD BEGIN TOHELP
Retdog 51
And ALSO ON THE PROBLEM WITH NASCAR ITS FUNNY HOW I HEARD ON VARIOUS SPORTS PROGAMS HOW WHEN DANICA(won 1 race in 9yrs)PATRICK CAME TO NASCAR INDY CAR SERIES RATEINGS WOULD DROP AND NASCAR RATEINGS GO UP WERE NOW THE TOTAL OPPISITE HAS HAPPEN INDYCAR IS SEEING HIGHEST RATEINGS IN MANY YEARS WERE NASCARS CONTINUE TO DROP WITH THE ADDITION WITH THE ULTIMATE CORPRATE PUPPET HMMMMM VERY INSTRESTING
Retdog 51
The problem with NASCAR is that coprate america runs NASCAR NOT NASCAR Crowds are low and tv rateings are in the toilet because corprate dumb asses that dont know a damn thing about racing dont want the GOOD OLE BOY HELL RAISEING TROUBLE MAKEING CAR CRASHING IMAGE ANY MORE They dont realize that the GOOD OLE BOYS LIKE EARNHARDT ALLISON BAKER BONNETT IS WHAT MADE IT THE NO 1 SPORT IN USA NOT CORPRATE PUPPETS LIKE JOHNSON KANE HAMLIN ETC.THATS WHATS WRONG WITH NASCAR

Also, look in 3rd place : An Oldsmobile... When they stopped in NASCAR, it hurt oldsmobile so bad that they could never fully recover, although they did have good numbers from '00 thru about '06
DJprofessork72
Absolutely. It's hard to identify the race cars today with the production cars. Win on Sunday, sell on Monday.
DJprofessork72
You act as though the problem with NASCAR solely rests on Toyota. Crowds are low because it's hard to justify the expense in traveling to a NASCAR race these days. The excitement isn't there either, which only adds to the problem.

Did Toyota inject money into the sport? Yes.
Is the Camry a "American" product? Yes.
Have they been doing well recently? Yes.

Also, the recall an anomaly for Toyota. Go ahead and look to see how many recalls GM has had in the last 10 years. You'll see...

Yet another display of dumbass from the dumbass with a dumbass opinion. Do you ever get tired of playing your role? Think about it and let us know what you're thinking, dumbass.
LT1HILLINGHOE
The fans are thanking them now....low race attendance and low tv ratings is how they let them know how thankful they are. Slowyota could at least say ur welcome by building a quality car that doesn't have to go back in every few months on a recall.
LT1HILLINGHOE
To begin with what you don't get is that you're a dumbass with a dumbass opinion that makes dumbass sense. Now we're at the end with.
sneezabonk
@redbuick Its called the Komee's revenge
sneezabonk
@TidusOfSH If you were at the 1987 race in Talladega you would understand why they made the restrictor plate but it was more fun with out them
TidusOfSH
I really think that, with all of the safety, they could at least make the plates less restricting. Or maybe have no plate at all. This video has some quite exciting racing out there.

What I don't get, is people going crybaby about Toyotas in NASCAR. To begin with, Camry is much more popular in America than everywhere else. Maybe it's Toyota's most american car. And other thing, all the whining makes it seem that Toyota holds any hegemony in points championship. Hello! Wake the fuck up!
redbuick
@DJprofessork72 never.
sneezabonk
Back then it was exciting because the drivers raced to win there was no such thing as protecting your car for second place finish for points. It was either win or go home.
DJprofessork72
@redbuick gasp, what's so wrong with a Toyota (Camry) in NASCAR. It's all but American. When NASCAR was hurting for another manufacturer, they stepped in. You should thank them.
