If you are planning for your higher Education immediately after your Graduation, you should start the preparation for your Entrance exams in the Last year of your Graduation.
Entrance Exams will be the first hurdle for your Higher Education in USA. The students planning for MS in USA need to give GRE (Graduate Record Examinations) and the students planning for MBA in USA needs to prepare and give GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) entrance Exams, along with these exams students need to also prepare for TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) which is a common exam to be given by students for studies in USA.
Once the students are done with their Entrance Exams and after getting the required scores in the entrance test, a student then applies for admission by sending admission applications to number of US Universities. There are two types of Application process for Submission -- Online Submission and Manual Submission.
Once the application process is done, students will get the confirmation letter or the Admission letter from the universities. After analysing the admission applications, a university then sends an admission confirmation letter to the eligible students for further process. Along with this, the University also sends an application where the student has to resend the duly filled application with required Funds Available Proof (of tuition fees & expenses) and other required documents. The Admission Letter will be received by the student from one or multiple Universities he has applied to. The Sample Admission Letter is been shown in the above slide (It may differ from University to University). The student need to then decide which University he is planning to study further.
After receiving the admission confirmation letter, the student sends a document stating proof of Funds Available with the other relevant documents to the University for getting the I-20 (I-20 - A letter stating confirmed admission by US University authorized by US Dept. of Justice). If the proof of funds available document is considered genuine, then the university issues the I-20 to the eligible student. A student not having an I-20 cannot apply for the visa. There are 3 types of proof of funds available document.
A. Bank Statement (If money available in cash)
B. Solvency Letter (Proof of Total Assets)
C. Education Loan Sanction Letter / Approval Letter.( The Sample I-20 is been shown in the above slide)
After receiving the I-20 from the perspective university, a student then applies for USA Visa. The next step is to make an appointment for your visa interview at the U.S. Embassy. Appointments are booked online. Once your appointment has been booked, you will be able to view your appointment letter. Make sure you take a print out of this as you will need to bring this with you when you attend your interview. On the day of your interview, you will be informed about the visa decision whether it is accepted or rejected.
Once the Visa is accepted, the student needs to pay the Fees online. The options available to make payment are Forex, Demand draft, Travellers Cheque etc.
Now as student is going to USA he need to pack his luggage and also make sure he carries all the required things he would require in USA. The List of the luggage to be carried is now a days easily available on Internet.
