Yuval Noah Harari
Yuval Noah Harari spoke with 350 young people in South London together with comedian and presenter Russell Brand. In this first-ever Penguin Talk, Harari shared his thoughts on the future of humanity in an honest conversation with Brand and the young audience about the challenges facing the next generation (and how they might be overcome).

It's fascinating how Yuval lays out an argument that there is no proof of women being forced into oppression by men, but avoids stating the obvious conclusion. Or when he gives an example of ethnic minorities being objectively less reliable workers, but instead of calling bullshit on the identity politics he calls an unbiased algorithm "racist"… Surely such a bright individual can't be deaf to his own words? Is he afraid to speak up against the radical left?
Wish I could meet Prof. Yuval in person. Great man. Great mind.

I am not gay but I have known quite a few gay people, and I have always been curious as to what triggers gayness. This is one of the few people in the world who I think might be honest and objective and brave enough to talk about this subject with truth and honesty. Is gayness really a calculation about what gender you get a along better with, or what kind of life or viewpoint you have on the world. I'd like to hear his thoughts on the subject just to see what he thinks.
This is kind of silly ... the whole history of humans is that we have hacked ourselves. Everything changed for the human being as originally bred --- as hunter-gatherers. The rest has been about elites in human society trying to rise up and over other people in their society ... something that was never a goal for many humans until the agricultural subsistence stage.

Absolutely loved the moderator here. Yuval is brilliant, of course, but somewhat sterile

Since when do you have to be educated in ethics to be able to make the right humanly choices? I mean, don't you just have to be a decent human being not an educated in ethics human being? That assumption of Yuval simply puzzles me. Did anyone ever made right choices because they'd been educated in ethics?

Strange paradox, that the emotional strength gained from "failing our exam", is declared in all other aspirational goals, as the antithesis to happiness.

Yuval Harari: "Techno-Religions and Silicon The Future of Education - Yuval Noah 1 year ago   1:23:14

Techno-Religions and Silicon Prophets: Will the 21st century be shaped by hi-tech gurus or by religious zealots – or are they the same thing?

What is the current status of religions and ideologies in the world, and what will be the likely impact of 21st-century technological breakthroughs on religion and ideology? Will traditional religions and ideologies—from Christianity and Islam to Liberalism and Socialism—manage to survive the technological and economic revolutions of the 21st century? What would be the place of Islam, for example, in a world of genetic engineering and artificial intelligence? The talk addresses these questions, and argues that the future belongs to techno-religions, which promise salvation through technology, and which are already gathering believers in places such as Silicon Valley.
